Manaslu range of Mountains

The last 2 days, we’ve had beautifully clear weather and we can see northwards right across the Terai to the Manaslu range of mountains. The highest of these peaks we can see from our house are Ganesh Himal I at 7429 m and Himalchuli at 7893 m. They are so high one could mistake them for clouds. But most of the year they are hidden behind the thick dust pollution of the middle part of Nepal. Only in September and October, after the monsoon has ended, can one see the mountains clearly early in the morning, and even late in the afternoon when they are lit up by the setting sun in the west, lighting them up with pinks and golds and purple. These mountains, as all the high Himalayas do, inspire me to great thoughts, optimism and wonder at the beauty of the natural earth.
